Overview

The VIP safari is built around a private majlis — your own carpeted, cushioned enclosure at the edge of the camp with a dedicated host, a low dining table and an uninterrupted view of the dune line. Vehicles carry your party only up to four guests, the dune drive is unhurried, and the camp is licensed, so wine, beer and cocktails are available. Dinner is à la carte rather than buffet, with a live grill built around your choices. It suits guests who want the desert without any of the crowd.

Know before you go

  • Alcohol is served at the camp bar to guests aged 21 and above with photo ID. Drinks are charged separately and settled at the camp. The majlis is reserved for your party only, with a two-guest minimum booking.
  • Loose, light clothing and closed shoes or sandals you do not mind filling with sand. Bring a layer for after sunset — desert temperatures drop quickly once the light goes. Modest dress is appreciated at camps with live performances.
  • Open to all ages. Dune driving is not recommended during pregnancy or for guests with back, neck, heart or spinal conditions. Children under three sit on a parent's lap during the dune drive and travel free.
  • Dune driving is not suitable for wheelchair users, and camp ground is soft sand. Camps have firm matting paths to the main seating and staff can assist with transfers. Tell us about mobility needs at booking and we will place you in a camp with the shortest walk from the vehicle.
  • Bring ID if you plan to drink; the bar checks age regardless of appearance.
  • Ask your host to time dinner after the tanoura set so you can watch it from the majlis first.
  • Winter evenings get cold quickly in an open majlis — the camp provides blankets but a jacket helps.
  • Sunset drinks on the dune are the photograph of the night; keep your phone charged for it.

October to April. December to February gives the most comfortable evening temperatures for outdoor dining.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside 24 hours the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are charged in full. Date changes are free up to 24 hours before travel, subject to availability.
